Background of the Study
Infrastructure development is essential for economic growth and improving the quality of life in any society. In Minna Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, public sector accounting plays a pivotal role in ensuring the transparent and efficient management of funds allocated for infrastructure projects. However, poor financial oversight, mismanagement of funds, and corruption have hindered infrastructure development in the area. Adopting sound public sector accounting practices is crucial to addressing these challenges and ensuring the successful execution of infrastructure projects. This study assesses the role of public sector accounting in infrastructure development in Minna LGA.
Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to improve infrastructure in Minna LGA, challenges such as project delays, cost overruns, and abandoned projects persist. These issues are often linked to weaknesses in public sector accounting practices.
